This excellent workshop is a continuation of learning over a 5 Week learning to paint basic still life, Continued Learning in Oil Painting, it is designed primary for people who have some understanding of painting in oils or acrylics who are looking to improve on their ability to paint.

Why Study in Oil paint

The study of painting in oil paint is all about understanding the make up of the paint and how to take the information available and create the atmosphere onto your painting support, by practising to paint using the different skills and techniques taught on the course to create form and depth within a painting you can improve your painting skills.

The course

The first day of the course is from 12.00 till 3.00 pm and will continue each week for 5 weeks, on day one you will receive your equipment and an introduction to painting before getting straight into painting.

The Structure of the workshop

Your Tutor Marc A Turner will guide you through the process each week of the 5 Week Study Continued Learning in Oil Painting by explaining, demonstrating and finally practice.

The cost of the workshop is £180

The cost of the workshop if paying weekly is £38 per week,

Missed classes

If a class is missed students can attend the Tuesday Evening or Wednesday class or receive notes in order to catch up but no refund is available for missing the class.

What you will need to bring with you:

You will require old clothes and an apron and refreshments.

The cleaning of equipment is the students responsibility with guidance from the tutor

Cancelations within 7 days of the start date will result in the loss of the deposit

Understanding Oil Colours 

Understanding oil colours is essential to being able to create wonderful paintings with this amazing painting medium, we will help you.

Learning to paint in oils

The hardest thing to do in learning to paint in oils, is to make the move to learn the many ways of using this medium, the foundation of oil painting is critical in understanding how to use your chosen medium to create your artwork and masterpieces.

Will I be able to do it

oil painting is one of the most forgiving painting mediums you could ever decide to use but one of the most technical materials to understand, that is why it is essential to get the correct tuition from day one.

Day One

On that note, day one will concentrate on understanding colour and the value of colour so that you will be more comfortable with colour and understand the difference in your choice of colour to create your master piece.

Day Two

Day 2 we will be putting all the skills we have learned to create an amazing painting to be proud of that will look great in your home or as a gift to a someone.

The Venue

Turner’s Painting School is located in the wonderful grounds of Walton hall and Gardens.

Due to the current climate all courses will be restricted to a maximum of 6 students.

Due to the current regulations we are not able to offer refreshments so please bring your own, no food is permitted within the school so you will have to take your lunch the the covered area attached to the Heritage Café

 £75 per day Part 1, 2, & 3

Learn to paint En Plein Air or put simply, learn to paint out doors, be guided through the process in painting out doors so you can learn the correct way to set your self up and achieve excellent results in this difficult skills process.

What does it mean, Learn to Paint En Plein Air

As mentioned above it simply means painting out doors and this method was a major way to paint in the late 19th Century for the impressionist painters like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh not to mention many other brilliant impressionists painters.

The Course

All levels and abilities are suited to this structured course as it is designed for all artist. but artist who have a good understanding of using oil paints will find it easier. The course starts at 09.30 to 13.30.

For the Beginner

We will make a special effort to look after the complete beginner so that they can enjoy the course without worrying about the abilities of other painters,

Structure

The structure of the Learn to Paint En Plein Air is based on both classroom work and field work, so that you will be comfortable to progress in the skills of your new chosen medium and genre.

Sage One

Students will enjoy stage one with an introduction, you will begin with an explanation and demonstration from your tutor followed by collecting your painting kit.

Off we go

The artist comfortable with using oil paints will be given the opportunity of a challenge wile the artist new to oil paints will be given a further demonstration in the field in how to paint with oil paints followed by a simple painting challenge.

Stage Two

Students begin with classroom work to view what you have completed in the stage 1 learn to paint En Plein Air, you will then be given guidelines to the further process and a demonstration and guided through a simple task.

Around Walton hall Stage 3

Each separate day that you come to paint out doors we will move to a new location within the Walton Hall and Gardens covering aspects like buildings, landscapes and the Zoo. this final stage will be a wonderful painting.

Your Tutor

Marc A Turner is your tutor and has a vast knowledge of painting and tutoring students in the skills of painting out doors.

Price and Location

The cost of the days course is £75 just pay a deposit of £25 and the rest on the day, the price is inclusive of all materials.

The course is run at the Turner’s Painting School within the Walton Hal and Gardens.

A Painting for Christmas, Bird on a fence one day workshop  is only £80 and includes all materials during the workshop

A Painting for Christmas is the perfect workshop for anyone wishing to improve their painting skills in the impressionist style.

we are always striving to create something  that’s a pleasure to look at and the colours and dynamics of this painting can’t be denied.

Course structure

The workshop is run over one day, we will start at 10.00 am with an introduction to the materials and methods as used by the master,  lunch break from 12.30 and then continue to paint during the afternoon.

Refreshments are not available but you may bring your own food that must be consumed in the café area  Heritage Café.

The Materials

During the paint like the masters workshop you will be using the finest quality materials in order for you to create the painting that will look fresh for many years to come, quality oil paints and painting supports of canvas. all the materials required to carry out the tasks are all supplied as part of the workshop, all you need to do is wear old clothes or a painting apron.
